Course Design 1: Constructive Alignment
IN PERSON – WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6, 2024, 11AM – 1PM
Location: TBD
Course will be guided by
Marloes Menten, Alexandra Mihai and/or Therese Grohnert.
Audience
This workshop is mandatory for UTQ/BKO candidates, but we invite all interested SBE teachers to join us.
About the course
As a teacher at SBE, you will specify your course’s learning objectives, design new tasks or select new problem sets, you will adjust and evaluate learning activities – in short, you will engage in course design. Most often, course (co-)coordinators engage in course design, but often, tutors and teaching assistants are involved as well.
This is the first of four workshops to prepare and support you in your course design activities.
Do you have questions about this workshop? Contact Marloes Menten via email.
What will you learn
We immediately start working on one course in which you are or will be a course (co-)coordinator,
or have room to practice course design. After completing this workshop you will:
- understand the course’s position in the SBE curriculum with curriculum maps
- make an inventory of changes you plan on making to your course by applying models of course design
- formulate learning objectives for your course using Bloom’s taxonomy
- evaluate your course’s constructive alignment between learning objectives, teaching activities, and assessment formats
