Teaching Delivery 2: Global Citizenship & The International Classroom
IN PERSON – TUESDAY, JUNE 18, 2024, 11AM – 1PM
Location: TBD
This workshop is mandatory for UTQ/BKO candidates, but we invite all interested SBE teachers to join us. Colleagues who already obtained their UTQ following this workshop can be rewarded with CPD hours. For any questions about this workshop feel free to contact the Learning Academy.
About the course
Working in small tutorial groups with students of different origins and diverse cultural backgrounds is of great added value to our small-scale problem-based learning (PBL) system. Students who are educated in the environment of an international classroom are better prepared to work in a rapidly internationalisation and globalising labour market. The competences needed to work as a student or staff member in such international classrooms do, however, need to be developed and trained. This training helps staff members to develop these competences.
Objectives
After completing this workshop, you will:
- Understand theories on culture and diversity.
- Understand the effect of culture on group dynamics.
- Develop intercultural communication skills.
- Deal with diversity in the classroom.
- Develop culturally sensitive teaching material.
