The ACCT empowers course coordinators with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform in their role by focusing on effective management, innovative course design, and evidence-informed practices in higher education. About the training

Expanding upon the foundation established through the UTQ/BKO programme, the Advanced Course Coordinator Training (ACCT) focuses on further enhancing the capabilities of course coordinators in their roles. During this trajectory, you will engage in mutual learning, discussion, and knowledge sharing, thereby fostering a cross-departmental learning community.

The ACCT offers a deep dive into various aspects, including educational design, curriculum planning, effective course and team management, and methods for course improvement and feedback. As part of the ACCT, you will gain access to the training canvas page which serves as a microlearning database as well as our channel of communication. Here you can ask any question on education, find best practices shared by experienced colleagues, find insights of educational research, can seek more information about the support network at SBE and UM as well as more background information on relevant topics for course coordinators.

Objectives of the ACCT

  • Leadership: Develop leadership skills to effectively support and lead a diverse group of tutors, communicate with stakeholders and collaborate to navigate challenges.
  • Vision: Critically reflect on educational philosophies, challenging assumptions and incorporating evidence-informed principles into vision for teaching and learning.
  • Course management: Ensure a smooth course handover from one coordinator to another, and supporting effective knowledge transfer (past educational changes).
  • Educational design: Further develop effective decision-making in educational improvements by e.g. analyzing student feedback and other relevant data (e.g. linked to assessment, feedback from tutors, …).
  • Educational design: Explore and implement innovative course design and teaching approaches, incorporating technology and interactive methods to enhance the learning experience of students.
  • Evidence- informed: Integrate evidence-informed practices into their teaching methodologies and decision-making via adjusted course design and teaching practices
  • Community of practice: Actively contribute to and benefit from a collaborative community of practice, sharing experiences, challenges, and best practices.

Timeline of the training

Note: Please ensure that you can commit to joining ALL sessions before signing up for the ACCT.

The sessions are scheduled in education free weeks. You can use your 16 CPD hours to partake in the training. The ACCT will be hosted once a year, alternating between the autumn and spring semester.

Please not that setting up a training implies costs related to the development and provision of the training. If you sign up, ensure you are able to join. 

The Learning Academy reserves the right to postpone this event should a minimum of 7 participants not be reached. 

 

For joining departments (MSI, MSM, INSPIRE) a fee of 3000€ will be charged to your department per participant.
