Developing Education and Assessment 1: Applying Constructive Alignment

155 155 people viewed this event.

As a teacher at SBE, you will specify your course’s learning objectives, design new tasks or select new problem sets, and adjust and evaluate learning activities – in short, you will engage in course design. Most often, course (co-)coordinators engage in course design, but often, tutors and teaching assistants are involved as well.
This is the first of three workshops to prepare and support you in developing education.

In this workshop, you will work on one course in which you (will) have a coordinating role and together, we will:

  • understand the course’s position in the SBE curriculum with curriculum maps
  • make an inventory of changes you plan on making to your course by applying models of course design
  • formulate learning objectives for your course using Bloom’s taxonomy
  • evaluate your course’s constructive alignment between learning objectives, teaching activities, and assessment formats
