Delivering education 2: Global citizenship for sustainable development 08-01-2026, 13.00-15.00
This training clarifies conceptualizations and competencies for global citizenship and sustainable development, and helps staff members become aware of how these competencies are and can be integrated within their courses to prepare our graduates to become change makers to drive positive change in the world.
In addition, working in small tutorial groups with students of different origins and with different cultural backgrounds is of great added value to our small-scale problem-based learning (PBL) system. Students who are educated in the environment of an international classroom are better prepared to work in a rapidly internationalisation and globalising labour market. The competencies needed to work as a student or staff member in such international classrooms will be developed and trained in this training.
Together, we will work on:
- Clarifying conceptualizations of global citizenship education and sustainable development
- Understanding the framework for global citizenship education at UM
- Understanding that global citizenship education is and should be integrated within existing SBE curricula
- Theoretical background on intercultural sensitivity
- Developing intercultural communication skills
- Reflection on educational design and teaching and how to improve courses on the basis of these reflections
